While the urban demographics is changing, climate change is affecting the hydrological cycle affecting the precarious balance between availability and demand. Agenda 2030, calls for inclusive and participatory approach to reduce poverty and achieve the set goals. The paper delineates how a participatory and inclusive approach can lead to reducing water insecurities in the global south. It explains the use of fuzzy cognitive maps to capture stakeholder knowledge to help bridge the gap between scientific research and policy making through stakeholder participation.
